After you select the type of SSL certificate to buy and submit your payment information, the certificate authority typically requires that you submit a CSR.
Best practice indicates that you should have your CSR ready when purchasing SSL certificates.
You must decide which type of SSL Certificate is most appropriate for your company. For a list of certificate authorities, see the Mozilla Included CA Certificate List.
Submit a CSR
Open the .csr file in a text editor such as Notepad and then copy and paste the data from the .csr file into the appropriate area of the enrollment form provided by the certificate authority. Do not use Microsoft Word for this process, as it may insert extra hidden characters that alter the contents of the CSR.
After your company's identity has been verified, the certificate authority typically sends you an email message to inform you that it is time to Retrieve your Certificates.
